How to Login to Airbnb as a Guest

First Time Users

Step #1

Begin by heading to Airbnb’s webpage to get started.

On the main screen, you’ll see an icon that looks like a person on a gray background, with three horizontal lines next to it.

When you click on this icon, options will appear, including Sign Up and Login. Since you’re a first time user, you’ll want to select Sign Up.

Airbnb home page and login page

Step #2

After selecting Sign Up, an in-set window will open to give you the options for signing up.

You can put in your phone number, or choose to sign up another way, like with an email address or other online account.

Airbnb login page

I suggest doing email, as this will be the easiest way to log back in. Email is also a convenient way to communicate with hosts, Airbnb, and troubleshoot if you have any issues with your account. You should also use an email that you check regularly. Airbnb communicates important information about your bookings and experiences via email, so stick with something you use.

This video outlines the process for logging into Airbnb with your email address:

Logging in with an email!

Step #3

After putting in your email (or other account), fill in the other identifiable information.

Airbnb asks for the usual – first name, last name, birthday, email (if you didn’t give it), and a password.

From there, you’re part of the community! You’ll be off to booking in no time.

Returning Guests

Step #1

To log back in to your account, click on the same icon you used to sign up for your account.

This time, select Login. It will take you back to the same screen you used to make your account, which is also the Airbnb login page.

Step #2

On the Airbnb login page, put in either the phone number or email address you used to log in.

You can also select to login with one of the other accounts (Facebook, Google, or Apple ID) if that account is linked to your Airbnb account.

You will also need to put in your password at this point. I suggest that you have your browser save the password, especially if you don’t book often. That will keep you from forgetting the password later on.

Your password will load automatically if you ask your browser to save it.

Step #3

Now you can book! It’s that easy.

If you have selected a picture to go with your account, that picture will take the place of the generic icon on the main screen.

How to Login into Airbnb as a Host

First Time Users

Step #1

Looking to make a little extra cash? You can become a host on Airbnb in just a few clicks!

Start by clicking the Become a Host button on the Airbnb home page. This is right next to the login icon for a guest account.

From there, the site redirects to the welcome page for new hosts. You can also learn about hosting from real hosts before committing to it yourself.

Step #2

From there, you’ll need to fill out some basic information.

  • How will you advertise the stay?
  • What kind of place are you listing?
  • Will the guests have the whole place to themselves?

The sort of information that a guest will want to know when looking for a listing.

Watch this video tutorial on how to become a new host on Airbnb:

Step #3

After that, you can add photos to your page, describe your place, and give it a name.

Airbnb also allows you to establish your “house rules” that guests have to agree to at the time of booking.

There are a few other steps that Airbnb will take you through as you set up your listing, like setting up your calendar and pricing of the place.

When that’s finished, that’s it! You’re a host!

Returning Hosts

Lucky for you, there isn’t a separate “Airbnb host login.”

You just login the same way you would as a guest!

Airbnb only allows one account per person, so your hosting and guest accounts are one and the same.

The main difference is the way you manage your account.

Step #1

To log back in to your account, click on the same icon you used to sign up for your guest account.

This time, select Login.

It will take you back to the same screen you used to make your guest account.

Step #2

On the in-set window, put in either the phone number or email address you used to log in.

You can also select to login with one of the other accounts (Facebook, Google, or Apple ID) if that account is linked to your Airbnb account.

Remember, it’s the same as your guest account, so the password will be the same. That’s it!

Airbnb Host Dashboard

While there isn’t a separate Airbnb host login to access the host dashboard, you will need to go to the hosting page. That will directly pull up your dashboard, showing your requests, reservations, and notifications.

That’s it, you’re all set! You are now a Airbnb login expert.

How do I login to Airbnb with an email address?

The information will have changed to allow you to type in an email address.

What information does Airbnb collect about me when I login?

There is some information that Airbnb needs to have in order to successfully run your account.

While you do have a lot of control about the information they have access to and how it is shared, there is some information that Airbnb has to collect.

Information Airbnb needs:

  • Contact information (name, postal address, email, birthday, etc.)
  • Profile photo (should you have one)
  • Identity verification (government-issues ID)
  • Payment information

Information Airbnb automatically collects:

  • Geo-location information – Where are you when you log in? Are you on the app or a browser?
  • Usage information – What do you view or search? What bookings or listings have you made? What else are you doing on the Airbnb platform?
  • Log data and device information – What is the history of the times you’ve logged in, listed, and/or booked? What is the device with which you’ve logged in? What data have the cookies collected?
  • Payment transaction information – How did you pay? What was the date and time? How much was the payment?

Airbnb also uses cookies to help run their website. Like other sites, these small text files help to make the parts of their site work, as well as connecting to other sites. You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser.

How do I find my Airbnb account?

Once you’re logged into Airbnb, you’ve accessed your account.

If you’re looking for more aspects of your account, you can click on your photo (where the icon used to be) and then select Account.

This will take you to the main account page, with plenty of other options to help you specify your account.

Why can’t I log into my Airbnb account?

A few issues could prevent you from accessing your Airbnb account:

  1. You’re trying to login in with the wrong information. I know, that seems basic, but there have been times when I was sure I was using the right password, and I wasn’t. Try resetting the password and try again.
  2. The browser is glitching. Sometimes, updates to browsers and webpages alike can cause a conflict between the two. Try opening a different browser to login.
  3. Issues with the platform. The user interface between the Airbnb webpage and the Airbnb app are not the same. If you’re trying to get in on the app and can’t, try using a browser on a computer instead. The same goes if the reverse is true. Sometimes you can access one, but not the other.

I can’t login without my phone. What do I do?

One of the best fixes is to try this link to Review Your Account.

Now, you will need to login on your phone to use this link, but will allow you to set up new information or adjust your settings.

If you don’t have your phone, or your Airbnb account is connected to an old phone number, this fix won’t work.

At that point, you may want to reset your Airbnb password. That will require you to access the email on file, as you will receive an email with a reset link. Resetting the password should help you to get in either in the app or on a browser.

If you created an Airbnb account by connecting to Facebook, Google, Apple, or using your phone number, you weren’t required to create a password. Log out, and then you will be prompted to reset your password, which will attach a password to the account. That should clear up the issue.

I can’t login to my Airbnb account. Now what do I do?

First thing you should do is try to call Airbnb. Their primary contact number is 1-844-234-2500, but you could also try 1-855-424-7262.

Another mode of contact that has worked well is using AirbnbHelp on Twitter. Send a direct message to @airbnbhelp, and someone should be back to you within the day!

How do I change my Airbnb email login?

This is super easy to change!

Once you’ve logged into your account, select Personal info on the main screen.

From there, you just need to scroll down to Email address and click on Edit.

Update the email address, select Save, and it’s changed!

What are login notifications?

Login notifications are another layer of security established by Airbnb to further protect your account. These notifications let you know if someone accesses your Airbnb account without your permission.

Login notifications are emails, letting you know every time someone logs in.

The email contains the type of browser that accessed the account, the time it was accessed, and the approximated location where the login occurred.

Login notification email

Now, if you don’t want to be getting an email every single time you login, you can mark a browser as “trusted.”

You will not be notified if you get an email from a trusted browser.

How do I turn on Airbnb login notifications?

In previous versions of the Airbnb interface, you could adjust this feature under the Security section.

However, within the past couple of years, Airbnb changed this feature to be automatic.

If Airbnb detects a new login to your account, you will receive the login notification email. This will allow you to double check if the login was you, or if someone else is trying to access your account.

You can check all other types of notifications in the Notifications section of your account.

How do I manage my Airbnb notification settings?

On the main account page, you’ll see a box labeled Notifications. Click on this box, and it will take you to all your notification settings.

Adjust the notifications you receive for messages, reminders, promotions from Airbnb, community updates, and account security.

The only one you can’t turn off is the email notification for account support, as this is how Airbnb communicates with you regarding security matters. That includes login notifications.

How do I find my Airbnb confirmation code?

There are two ways to find the confirmation information after booking:

  1. You will receive an email with the confirmation information, including the code, to the address you have on file with your Airbnb account. That is why it is important to sign up with an email you use regularly, so that you receive all the information about your trip.
  2. Confirmation information is also always under the Trips section of your account. Simply click on Trips, and then the booking you need to check, and you’ll find the information!

How do I access my Airbnb login?

Head to the Airbnb home page, then find this icon:

From there, click “Log in”. Airbnb will ask you for your email address and password, if you signed up with your email originally. Or, you can log in with Facebook, Google, or Apple accounts – whatever you used when you signed up.
